June 2, 2015 - Marsha Familaro Enright Dialogues with Kirsten on Education - Pt 5, Wrong Turns in Education Reform

Last month we began sharing segments of an extensive, education-focused dialogue between Marsha Familaro Enright, founder of the Reason, Individualism, Freedom Institute, and Resounding Books Founder and Editor-in-Chief Kirsten Lombard. This month, we're picking up right where the two women left off.

In today's snippet from that engaging dialogue, Kirsten begins by asking Marsha how education, subjected to false reforms, can essentially become a stumbling for students in destabilized communities, noting that as bad education policy grows further entrenched, its ill effects are becoming more widespread.

Marsha's insights into the undermining of true opportunities for education touch on a range of interrelated wrong turns that have unfolded over the past 30 years or more. Most particularly, she cites an insistence on the part of government and business, which persists to the present day, to rely upon a failed and misguided strategy to deliver quality employees.

We think you'll find her comments valuable. Certainly, her views suggest significant agreement across the political and ideological spectrum about why our current direction in education can never work.
