May 2, 2015 - Marsha Familaro Enright Dialogues with Kirsten on Education, Pt 1

Talking with Marsha Familaro Enright is never boring. The founder of the Reason, Individualism, Freedom Institute has a lithe mind that allows her to discuss numerous topics in depth and with ease. However, education is definitely home ground for her.  Not only does she run a Montessori school in the Chicago area, several years ago she established an ongoing program called the Great Connections Seminar. The week-long event is offered to individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 that transforms the way people are able to engage the learning process. The seminars are now offered not just in Chicago but also in Buenos Ares. Rumor has it that an adult version is also in the works. (More on that when we have additional information because we're pretty sure it will be of interest to many of you.)

Recently, Marsha took the time to dialogue with Resounding Books Founder and Editor-in-Chief Kirsten Lombard about how she defines education and whether that definition is the general rule in classrooms across America today. She also explored some of the historical context that might explain how we've arrived where we are with education in the United States currently.

This first segment of Kirsten's conversation with Marsha is only about 5 minutes long, but there's much more coming--plenty of interesting, compelling thoughts. Stay tuned...
