If you're new to Resounding Books, you may not yet be familiar with our monthly newsletter, The Signal. It's a great way to keep up with some of what we're doing and to pick up some additional information that we feel merits your attention. Here on the website, you can access past editions of The Signal via a dropdown menu in the right margin of each page.
In our June issue, we focused in on some weighty stuff, including deceptive uses of language in education reform and related fields. We also highlighted information recently exposed in the state of Wisconsin, concerning likely 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker and his rather deceptive claims of undermining Common Core via the defunding of his state's participation Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.
We also took some time and space to introduce readers to Dr. Christopher Tienken, one of the very good guys in the fight against Common Core, high-stakes assessments, and related initiatives. Chris' research and activism is helping to debunk myths about the value of centralized and standardized education. In fact, as many readers may know, Chris contributed an amazing essay to Common Ground on Common Core, focusing on dishonest interpretation of U.S. scores on international assessments such as TIMMS and PISA. So, it was a pleasure to share his efforts with our readers.
If you aren't familiar with The Signal yet or just haven't had a chance to take a look at the June issue, we hope you'll take some time to do so. And feel free to pass it on. There are lots of valuable links to articles, interviews, and other information--things that can easily be shared with friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
As always, feel free to let us know what you think or if you have ideas for topics you'd like to us cover in the newsletter or blog.
